Trans Assess collects personal information when undertaking assessment, loss adjusting, investigation and reporting services in connection with insurance claims.
What information do we collect?
Depending on the circumstances of the claim, we may collect information including:
• your name and contact details;
• residential, postal or business address;
• driver's licence or other identification details where reasonably required;
• vehicle registration and identification details;
• insurance policy and claim information;
• details about the incident, accident or loss;
• photographs, video footage and other images;
• repair estimates, quotations, invoices and other relevant documents;
• information relating to ownership or possession of the insured asset;
• financial or payment information, including bank account details where reasonably required for the claim; and
• other information reasonably necessary to assess and investigate the claim.
Why do we collect your information?
We collect personal information to:
• investigate and establish the circumstances and cause of an incident or loss;
• assess the extent and quantum of damage or loss;
• assess repair requirements and costs;
• consider total loss and salvage matters;
• validate repair estimates, quotations and invoices;
• prepare assessment, investigation and loss adjusting reports;
• provide recommendations to the insurer or claims professional managing the claim; and
• communicate with you and other relevant parties as required to complete the assessment.
Who may receive your information?
Personal information may be provided to the insurer or claims professional who has engaged Trans Assess and, where reasonably necessary, to other parties involved in assessing or managing the claim.
These may include repairers, engineers, investigators, experts, legal representatives, salvage providers, suppliers, contractors and relevant government authorities.
Trans Assess may also use third-party technology and business service providers to support its operations, including email and document storage. Some service providers may store or process information using infrastructure located outside Australia.
What happens if you do not provide information?
Where information is reasonably necessary to undertake an assessment or investigation, failure to provide requested information may prevent Trans Assess from completing the assessment or providing the requested service to the insurer or claims professional.
You are not generally required to provide information that is not reasonably necessary for the relevant assessment or claim.
